Who we are
Cantine Animas was founded in 2018 in Berchiddeddu, a small village in the Gallura region near Olbia, though our roots run much deeper.
In fact, the farm dates back to the 1970s, born from the love our grandfather, Giuseppino Mazzone, had for his land when he decided to plant the first vineyard.
Our grandfather’s story is one of social redemption: forced to leave his homeland in search of fortune and work, after years of sacrifice, he returned home and purchased the land where, as a child in the 1940s, he had worked as a shepherd’s servant—thus giving life to our family’s dream.
Wines
From passion and daily work, our wines are born—a combination of tradition, represented by Vermentino and Cannonau, and international grape varieties, represented by Cabernet-Sauvignon and Merlot. Through meticulous processes throughout the year and at every production stage, we strive to offer only the best. Our philosophy is to let the territory express itself fully in the glass and to wait for the wines to reach their full potential through long aging in steel and, above all, in the bottle.

Today, Animas cultivates 13 hectares of vineyards, divided between white grape varieties (Vermentino, Moscato Bianco) and red grape varieties (Cannonau, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon). The vineyards are split into two distinct plots, each differing in location, altitude, climate, and soil: one closer to the sea near Loiri, and the other inland near Berchiddeddu. Thanks to these differences, we are able to create wines with unique characteristics that truly reflect the diverse nuances of Gallura’s terroirs.
